—Abstract
In this talk, I will introduce myself to the audience, telling a bit of my previous experience, and I will also show a preview of the paper I'll be presenting in July, at the Responsible Software Engineering workshop, co-located with ESEC/FSE 2026. In this paper, we conducted a survey with industry software professionals to understand their self-perception of ethics in the SDLC. Our findings point to a relevance-capability mismatch: practitioners generally recognize that everyday engineering decisions can significantly influence users, but their confidence in identifying and mitigating ethical risks is comparatively less robust and more variable.
